The neo-gothic building, which is currently an unhindered graffiti canvas, was built in 1898 by the Department of Education to house PS 160. Ever since 1993, though, it has been a massive community center that embraces Puerto Rican/Latino art and culture. However, because the facility is owned by the city, the threat of sale is always looming. So far CSV remains unscathed, but for how much longer?
