Today marks the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. With the majority of the city populace jettisoning for arguably the last weekend of summer, numerous activist groups hit the streets. Shortly before 3PM, scores began gathering in the track area of Sara D. Roosevelt Park, and then began marching eastward on Delancey. The march was organized by Right to the City [link] and their primary message is twofold – bring those displaced by the storm back to New Orleans, and to help low-income families fight discrimination.

As I write this, the demonstration continues on the LES, much to the chagrin of motorists. Indeed, the traffic situation is a nightmare.
