Tenement Museum Bookshop Plans Move

The Tenement Museum [link] will reportedly move its bookshop across the street to 105 Orchard. For the past few weeks, internal demolition crews have been clearing the vacant storefront, which once housed women’s boutique Klein’s of Monticello. That business shuttered in 2005 after 40 years in business.

But sit tight. According to an employee who was surprisingly forthcoming with information, an official opening date remains unclear. He also mentioned that most of the current work is renovation on the foundation and basement. Once the move is complete, though, another business will likely rent number 108. In the meantime, the noisy saw-and-grind from within continues.
