Punk Pictures at CBGB

Much like famed photographer Bob Gruen, Stephanie Chernikowski was instrumental in capturing the mid-seventies downtown punk scene. In commemoration of her vast archive of photographs, the CBGB Gallery Morrison Hotel Gallery on the Bowery is sponsoring an exhibit entitled “Images from the Blank Generation.” It starts today, and is free.

Honestly, it’s offensive how the new tenants of 313-315 Bowery conduct business as if they are CBGB (e.g. Varvatos putting on concerts). As if there is some sort of entitlement.
