FIRE SCENE UPDATE: 107 is Rubble
In the two weeks since our last fire scene update, cleanup of the collapsed 107 East Broadway is nearly complete. The lion’s share of the mangled metal and crumbled brickwork has been carted away. All that remains is an empty lot and an unobstructed view of the Manhattan Bridge. The good news, however, is that traffic is back to normal on both East Broadway and Pike Street.
Now that all the yellow caution tape and police gates are gone from the scene of the fire, you can stroll right up to the plywood. We peered through some holes and saw nothing but rubble. It’s a pretty sobering sight.
There is still a vacate order plastered on the doorway to 105.
