NYPD Mounted Unit on Grand Street

Meet Bob (left) and Neil (right), two gorgeous steeds employed by the NYPD. A few days ago, their owners took a quick snack break outside the Doughnut Plant on Grand Street. The officers were busy chatting with a woman who was walking her dogs on the sidewalk. We also stopped to say hello, and learned that Bob, Neil, and many of their friends are stabled at Pier 76 on the west side, currently the Mounted Unit headquarters.

Needless to say, the entire scene did little to allay the deeply entrenched stereotypes of cops and their donut fixations.
