Waffin Tea Room is Out

Almost a year after opening for business at 161 Allen Street, the Waffin Tea Room is out. But apparently not for good. According to a sign in their window, the tea spot is moving to parts unknown, beckoning former customers to “call.” We obliged, only to receive a message from the operator indicating that the number has been temporarily disconnected. Behind shuttered security gates, the interior is stripped bare.

Perhaps the business is under new ownership? Back in October, Waffin Tea Room and its remaining five-year lease were on the chopping block for a mere $80,000. Information remains scant, especially since the website advertised on the red awning is not active.
