Lunar New Year Parade 2010 [Video]
Yesterday was the culmination of Chinese Lunar New Year festivities, with the annual parade marching through the streets of the Lower East Side. The weather was perfect for the occasion, warm without a cloud in the sky. There were, however, plenty of NYPD choppers buzzing overhead.

Overall turnout at all legs of the parade route was pretty strong. The procession began at the corner of Mott and Hester, which was packed with people by noon, and meandered through the streets of Chinatown until reaching Allen Street. This is always the final stretch, before terminating around the corner on Grand.
Highlights were definitely the flamboyant lion and dragon dancers, as well as the appearance of numerous classic cars.
