An Update on 225 East Broadway
It was over a month ago that, in preparation for total demolition, 225 East Broadway was shrouded in the familiar dark worksite netting. Now the task is nearly complete. As of yesterday afternoon, the original four-story height is halved; open sky is now visible behind the veil of darkness.

The row of century-old tenements comprising 225-229 was the longtime headquarters for Young Israel Synagogue. In its place, a new religious facility-cum-luxury condo is being planned for the Jewish organization.
