Shepard Fairey Mural Project Will Begin April 25
As EV Grieve reported last week, the old graffiti mural slab at the corner of Bowery and East Houston was completely removed, along with the Os Gêmeos artwork. In its place is a much larger, paneled facade built almost exclusively for public art. And it’s already been tagged numerous times.

In this week’s issue of The Villager, Scoopy spoke with Billy LeRoy of Billy’s Antiques about the forthcoming mural by Shepard Fairey. Work on the new project will allegedly begin on April 25.
“I’ve let him keep his paints inside my tent, as a show of support,” LeRoy told us, “even though he is practically corporate art…not yet, not quite.” LeRoy said he’s heard Fairey will start the piece on April 25.
