Casa Mezcal to Open in a Few Weeks
It appears the plywood sidewalk shed will soon be removed from the facade of 86 Orchard Street. According to an article in Sunday’s Post, Casa Mezcal, the forthcoming Mexican cantina-club-gallery is just a few weeks shy of opening.

That fact was subtly dropped in the first sentence. And apparently, Karl Lagerfield can’t get enough of Orchard Street. Back in March, he was busy snapping photos in the fire escapes above An Choi; and last week he reportedly spent six hours inside Casa Mezcal for an upcoming Chanel catalog.

Casa Mezcal owner Ignacio “Nacho” Carballido, who has two other neighborhood taquerias, is being called Mexico’s answer to Keith McNally. Some of the glamoratti moved on to Scuderia, where Silvano Marchetto was helping co-owner Fabrizio Sotti celebrate his 35th birthday.
