Filming Update: The Oranges on Mulberry, Smurfs on Crosby, Something Borrowed on Elizabeth
It’s only Monday, and already shaping up to be a busy week of movie filming in the neighborhood. Are you ready? First up is the Smurfs live-action feature, which just wrapped a week-long residency in the East Village. Today, production moves westward to Crosby Street, south of Houston, and will continue through Friday. Keep your eyes peeled for those blue buggers, last seen terrorizing Superdive.

Next up is Something Borrowed, that new Kate Hudson flick about a young lawyer who sleeps with her best friend’s fiance. After crowding Prince Street last week, film crews and their massive Haddad trucks are returning to the area on Wednesday, where they will remain until May 14! Fliers on light posts and tenement doors indicate that the shoot will monopolize Elizabeth Street between Prince and Spring to capture both “interior and exterior scenes.” Talk about inconvenience.

And lastly, a dramedy called The Oranges, starring Hugh Laurie and Leighton Meester, is filming on Mulberry Street all day today.
