Gotham Fine Yarn Moving from Orchard Street
Just a few months shy of a year at 148 Orchard Street and Gotham Fine Yarn is already throwing in the towel. Or spool, if you will. Three DIY signs taped to the windows currently advertise moving sales.

According to one worker in the store, Gotham Fine Yarn will not be relocating. Owner Rebecca Lai is reportedly moving “overseas” sometime in mid-August, and is taking the business with her. The quirky sub-level shop hearkened back to the area’s garment district heyday, and definitely catered to a niche crowd (Lai even taught lessons there). Moreover, it was always a fun place to browse and shop for gifts.
