Streetside Sketchpad: The Library
We are pleased to announce this new feature, dubbed Streetside Sketchpad. Each week, artist James Gulliver Hancock will publish one of his drawings of select neighborhood buildings along with a passage about the inspiration. The artwork is also an attempt to draw all the buildings in New York. More of his portfolio work can be found here.
This one was inspired by the lettering on “The Library” sign. I wanted to draw that, so I took it from there. It’s awesome in NYC how everything is super dense, yet a small detail like this can really get you excited about bigger things and areas.
