Pause Cafe to Replace Piada at 3 Clinton
A worried reader emailed us the other day inquiring about the fate of Piada at 3 Clinton Street. For the better part of a week, the security gates have been propped half-open at the former cozy cafe, revealing windows chock full of newspaper clippings. Translation – plenty of renovations.

One thing is certain, though. Piada is completely finished with the Lower East Side, and will soon be replaced by a like-minded establishment. Rudimentary wooden signage nailed to the left corner of the brownish awning indicates that Pause Cafe is the next contender at 3 Clinton. Additional details on possible launch date or menu were not readily available.

Fans of the original Piada can still score a fix at the midtown location, which actually opened inside the Citycorp Building back in November 2009. Meanwhile, we phoned and learned from one employee that Piada ownership has zero affiliation with Pause Cafe. And then there was one…
