Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Documentary Premieres Tonight on HBO
Friday marks the centennial anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, a seminal moment in American history. 146 young immigrant workers – mostly young women and teenage girls – burned to death or were forced to jump from an inferno that consumed the factory in just 18 minutes. It was reportedly the worst workplace disaster in New York State until 9/11. From the ashes began the modern labor movement.
