Wyndham Garden Hotel Liquor License Applications

In four months’ time, the aqua glass at the Wyndham Garden Hotel has nearly made its way to the summit, and the concrete facade painted to match.  But there are still plenty of panes missing from the sixteen-story Bowery eyesore. Nevertheless, its glaring facade and uppity nature are the unfortunate reality with which we must contend.

Behind the scenes, however, new information was just published [PDF] regarding the drinking establishments to be birthed here at 93 Bowery.  Although a healthy scratch from the February SLA meeting, come March 14, hotel representatives will appear before Community Board 3 to apply for the following full liquor licenses – restaurant, lobby bar, and rooftop terrace.

• The rooftop terrace will have a capacity of 74 persons, with a total of fourteen tables.
• The lobby bar will sport a 22-foot L-shaped bar.  Hours of operation proposed are Monday through Sunday, 2 pm to 11 pm.
• The restaurant will allegedly serve American style cuisine, and employ a team of 16 to 20 food and beverage people.  Hours of operation proposed are Monday through Sunday, 6 am to 10 pm.

Might be a fight, given its 200-foot proximity to the Grace Faith Church at 65 Chrystie Street.

Just remember that this posh hotel was constructed at the expense of the adjacent 128 Hester Street, a tenement which was destabilized from construction back in August 2009.  The sixteen-unit building was evacuated, and eventually demolished a few months later in November.
