NBC loves re-purposing British television and adapting for American audiences.  But what it loves even more is procedural cop dramas.  Prime Suspect, which first aired on ITV in 1991, is being rebooted and set in New York City.  The storyline follows no-nonsense detective Jane Tennison, originally played by Helen Mirren, as crime fighter in a police department dominated by males.  Actress Maria Bello has been cast in the lead role.

So keep your eyes peeled tomorrow afternoon.  Filming will stretch the length of the Bowery between Delancey and East Houston, and over to Mott.

The remake of Prime Suspect will be produced and directed by Peter Berg, who has already done wonders with football drama Friday Night Lights.
