Bowery Boogie & Con Artist Present “All the Buildings in New York”
For a solid three months this winter, artist James Gulliver Hancock was kind enough to illustrate buildings on the Lower East Side exclusively for a Bowery Boogie series called Streetside Sketchpad. In the ensuing period, Hancock has received considerable exposure in the local blogosphere for the monumental task of drawing every building in New York City.

During this series hiatus, we are pleased to present an upcoming exhibit of Hancock’s work at the Con Artist workshop gallery at 119 Ludlow Street. The show is called “All the Buildings in New York,” and will premiere Wednesday night, May 18 at 7 pm. The exhibit will run through Sunday, May 22.

All the Buildings in New York
Open the hatch at 119 Ludlow street and enter the whimsical world of James Gulliver Hancock. An Australian artist living in New York, getting a massive amount of exposure for his attempt to draw ‘All the Buildings in New York’ on his blog www.allthebuildingsinnewyork.com.
James Gulliver Hancock grew up in Australia, he is not a New Yorker. Like most Australians he’s traveled extensively, at one stage going over land and sea from Australia to England via South east Asia, the Trans Siberian Express and all of Europe. He has landed in many cities, but New York is now his home.
James is obsessed with obsession. His whimsical visions infect everything he sees. He feels a responsibility to document everything he sees having obsessively drawn his surroundings since he was a little boy.
Now in New York and becoming more than a tourist, he feels ‘I love New York’ doesn’t cut it. He has started to stalk
New York, hug buildings with pencils and spend days analysing little cracks and the people that move between them.
This exhibition will showcase a series of new original painted, drawn, collaged and printed works, that provide a new view of the city we know and love, taking it out of cliche and media representation and humanizing it with color and whimsy just in time for this blossoming spring.
