Karl Fischer to Design More Condos at 255 Bowery

Not content with just one condo development in the area, Karl “Hot Karl” Fischer is about to take another dump on the Bowery, as it were.  And this time, it’s just a few doors down from his gray 263 Bowery creation.  The Observer learned yesterday that developer Shaky Cohen has just commissioned the Montreal-based starchitect to design a new luxury project at the soon-to-be-history 255 Bowery.  Apparently the facade will be an aesthetic departure from the look of 263.  Break out the big guns.

Mr. Cohen recently dropped $5.5 million on the 25-foot-wide property, and is nearly ready to build a new seven-story replacement structure.  Plans call for two floors of retail (i.e. gallery or high-end boutique), along with “four or five” luxury residential units.  Construction and demolition activities will reportedly begin in the next few months, and will require an additional cash infusion of $4 million.  The Bowery Deuce.

On a side note, can anybody really trust a developer with “Shaky” in their name?  Just sayin’.
