Coming Soon: Espresso Bar at 250 Broome Street

Last Monday brought word of a new coffee shop at the heretofore hard-to-lease 45 Orchard Street. That of Lost Weekend NYC.  Now just a few blocks to the northeast, another such establishment has announced its presence.

La Barra Italian bistro couldn’t hack it at 250 Broome Street, and quietly closed after barely two years in business.  Since the closure, nothing of substance really transpired here.  Unless, of course, you count the No Longer Empty “Renewal, Part I” installation which occupied the space in the interim.  Over the weekend, however, teaser signage arrived in the windows of this small storefront, broadcasting a self-serving message for a mystery cafe: “The best espresso comes to those who wait.”

Workers renovating the space for the inevitable opening were tight-lipped about the name of the establishment and probable launch date.  They did confirm, though, that an espresso bar is on its way to 250 Broome Street.

How do you feel about another coffee shop here in the immediate vicinity of the Tenement Museum?
