Ellabess to Open in the Nolitan July 18
It was an uncharacteristic sight for a long-stalled neighborhood blight. Last night, the ground-level of the oft-delayed Nolitan was poppin’. Guests filled a number of tables during dinnertime, with wait-service in tow. That’s right, folks, activity after months without.

We opened the side door only to discover that the new restaurant, dubbed Ellabess, was in mock mode. Basically, a trial period whereby employees were used as guinea pigs for operations. After asking to be seated, the hostess informed us that Ellabess would not open until July 18.
News first broke about Ellabess in early May, when it was revealed that the team behind Dell’Anima, L’Artusi, and Anfora, signed a deal to develop and operate a “seasonal American” restaurant. Apparently the former chef of Dell’Anima, Troy Unruh, is running the show here at 30 Kenmare Street.

As for the hotel, it’s still anyone’s guess as to a proper opening date. However, after scoping out their online reservation system, July 25 seems to be the official hotel launch. So, for those of you keeping score at home, that’s ten delays since the Nolitan first teased the neighborhood back in May 2010! A year of procrastination. What a joke.
