Felicia Cruz Memorial at 101 Stanton Street
The gruesome murder of longtime resident Felicia Cruz two weeks ago rattled the Lower East Side to the core. Here lifeless body was found inside 101 Stanton Street, home of newish boyfriend Miguel Pena, days after her own children reported her missing. The crime scene just after discovery became a magnet of media activity, attracting dozens of onlookers and reporters alike, all of whom just had to see the gurney wheeled out. Pena was arrested on site and charged with murder.

Now, with silence taking hold of 101 Stanton Street, a memorial has taken its place at the entrance. It’s simple. Much like a gravestone, it records dates of birth and death, and includes a photograph of the deceased.
