il Laboratorio del Gelato Now Open at 95 Orchard Street

Not five minutes after reopening at 95 Orchard Street on Saturday afternoon, and il Laboratorio del Gelato was already busy.  Those Tenement tourists.  Same as it ever was, to quote David Byrne.  This new-old satellite location is essentially just a serving post; all of the production and ice creaming goodness transpires at the larger facility on East Houston.

The flagship in the ground floor of The Ludlow affords the ability to have a pared-down presence on Orchard Street.  Not too much freezer equipment wasting space.  Glass cases are no longer up against the windows, and patrons can now congregate inside the store while ordering. That laboratory feel remains intact, although the decor has been updated with a photo collection of the new location hanging on the walls.

As before, the hours here are rather slim.  This locale will only be serving from noon to 6 pm, Wednesday through Sunday; closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
