Sahiwal Deli & Grocery at 50 Delancey Evicted
Coming up on its second anniversary at 50 Delancey, the 24-hour Sahiwal Deli & Grocery abruptly shuttered last Wednesday, rolling down its gates forever. To be honest, the bodega at the foot of 38 Delancey lasted much longer than we initially anticipated. The foot traffic here didn’t appear to justify one. Pasted to the facade somewhat out of sight is the official Marshal’s Notice, seizing legal possession of the property.

Sahiwal was a run-of-the-mill corner bodega, but also offered random specials for cabbies. It seemed to work, as there were often taxis parked curbside. Not well enough, though.

Meanwhile, the now-faded and tattered multicolored “grand opening” flags continue to grace the storefront. As does a “closed for vacation” sign dating back to last Christmas. Ownership just never got around to removing the decorations…
