The New 2 Allen Street Now Uncovered

2 Allen Street danced its final striptease over the weekend, bidding sayonara to the pole for the foreseeable future.  The last of the pinstriped worksite netting was removed, revealing sleek blue glass surrounded by a sea of brick.  But the sidewalk shed remains for the time being.  Undoubtedly, an eyesore for an eyesore.  Meanwhile, the crowning building signage currently earmarked for the entrance is still in the mail.

Kin Yu Realty is the exclusive broker for the property, which is now shopping for stores and offices between 200 and 5,000 square-feet to fill the vacancies.

It was exactly two years ago that demolition permits were filed, and the former 2 Allen Street was razed.  And with destruction, its historical significance lost to the Lower East Side.  The abnormally-shaped corner structure was reportedly built by renowned architect Frederick Eberling in 1887.
