Alms for Cats on Second Avenue
Another homeless hut recently sprouted on Second Avenue outside the Church of the Nativity. Much like Cuban refugee William Hernandez, who occupied the entrance of the Liz Christy Garden on the Bowery for roughly three months, this dude has opted for a semi-permanent residence.

While the man rests on discarded couch cushions beneath an umbrella, a sign on the makeshift structure of possessions pleads with pedestrians to help both he and his cat. The feline is presently caged behind bars, waiting to elicit the proper amount of pity for donations. No, Sarah McLachlan was not playing in the background.
