The End of the Bowery As We Know It
The publicity stunt wasn’t just a funeral for a longtime Lower East Side business, but a symbolic burial for the iconic Bowery of yore. It’s hard to see the old-timers leave. “Bring out your dead,” as Billy Leroy repeatedly proclaimed during the one-square-block procession. And these exact sentiments were coincidentally channeled in freshly-drawn scribbles around the Bowery.

Chair Up on the Bowery
Over the weekend a pair of chalk tags appeared with the simple message, “R.I.P. The Bowery” Bowery 2.0 is here to stay.
