Landbrot at 185 Orchard Street Still Delayed; Interior Revealed
The seemingly forsaken Lower East Side location of Landbrot Bakery & Bar at 185 Orchard Street is still getting the shaft. But there is nevertheless some progress to report this morning.

It was originally to have opened in summer 2011; then we were told April 1, only to be informed that April 24 was in fact the lucky day. Each promise was subsequently broken, so management instead decided on a more ambiguous “coming soon” signage so as to avoid committing. While the new printout on the door still promise a vague “opening shortly,” the Landbrot-branded window skins were finally peeled away within the last week. A wee bit closer…

Recently embedded window leafing and the full interior are now in public view. Prognosis – a much more scaled down affair than the West Village sister cafe. Narrow is the key word here, but they’ll probably refer to it as “cozy.”
