Salone May on Orchard Shutters
Of the numerous hair salons peppering Hell Square, Salone May seemed fairly successful, offering better bargains than most other chop shops. But it’s tough business on Orchard Street these days between Rivington and Stanton. A dead zone created by hotel saturation and the constant construction (or stalled-out decay) that comes with it.

We walked by 158 Orchard Street over the weekend and noticed that Salone May is officially kaput. There are still plenty of alternative options, though – among others, Ludlow Barbers, Misin Shin, Fox and Jane, Pimps and Pinups.
