HOW & NOSM Skin the Bowery Graffiti Wall

While the gaze was (and still is) drawn to the relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, a familiar sight appeared before the Bowery graffiti wall. A gathering of camera-toting gawkers assembled to usher in the arrival of the latest mural to grace the East Houston facade. Lady Aiko was deposed, and the twin Perre brothers HOW and NOSM took over.

Onsite stenciling began Friday afternoon, while the neighborhood was still without power, and continued through the weekend. The finished product is a busy collage of red-white-and-black imagery. HOW and NOSM are the first artists to brand the wall since its curator, Tony Goldman, died this past September.
