We sorta guessed this particular crackdown was coming down the pike, what with the Jarmulowsky hotel happening. But we didn’t expect it so soon. Last Friday, Chinatown bus company Ming An met the same fate as Fung Wah just the week prior. The Transportation Department’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ultimately busted the budget transit carrier – headquartered at 59 Canal Street – for numerous safety violations. Shocker. Chief among the claims, according to NY1, were the lack of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as well as a bevy of citations for exceeding speeding limits. And if that wasn’t enough, inspections also found that the company lacked both proper vehicle inspections and repair/maintenance programs.

Recall that two other curbside buses are applying for joint custody of 18 Allen just around the corner. They’ll appear before CB3’s transportation subcommittee tonight.
