Revisit Bustling Orchard Street, Circa 1930s

Architecturally speaking, the corner appears today as it did more than seventy years ago. Well, almost. We came across this uncredited aerial shot of Orchard and Delancey in the early 1930s, showing the hustle-bustle of peddlers, pushcarts, tables, and storefronts. This was seemingly before Moscot moved to the corner (circa 1936), when side-by-side cigar and shoe shops operated here. And when Beckenstein’s still operated in the neighborhood.
