He is the Passenger, and he rides through the city’s backsides…in the John Varvatos “limited edition” Chrysler 300c. That’s right, the upscale boutique owner chose Michigan native Iggy Pop (yet again) to help plug the “Motor City Style” of this new car.
The thirty-second spot follows a tractor-trailer on its journey across the George Washington Bridge and downtown to 315 Bowery, dragging behind it the vehicular payload. Upon arrival at the store, Iggy gives an emotionless nod of approval, then both he and John hop in. The commercial was filmed onsite, and even Saxon + Parole received some incidental national publicity.
The last neighborhood-specific integrated marketing for the vehicle was in September with the crazy-realistic sidewalk stencil by artist Tracy Lee Stum.
