In the time between the inking of the lease to actual store opening, Muji didn’t fuck around. It was first announced in February that the Japanese container store was moving into 52 Cooper Square; two months later, and this 8,600 square-foot East Village location is ready for the big time. Official launch is 11am this morning.
To celebrate the inauguration, the first 1,000 customers who make a purchase today receive an exclusive “My Bag” with a map of Cooper Square included. Thereafter, these totes will run $3.50. The store is open regularly from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm from Monday to Saturday; 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on Sundays.

As previously reported, Muji signed on for ten years at this address, and is reportedly paying upwards of $25,000 in monthly rent.
