It’s been three years, but the boys of Vampire Weekend are back with a whole new batch of catchy cleverness. They’ve released two singles that will appear on their third full length, set to drop on May 14 on XL Recordings.
While the tracks are modernized, the band has maintained their signature joyful, upbeat sound. “Diane Young” is an electronically charged pop song, while “Step” is a chilled out ballad laced with street slang and a geography lesson. It has an aesthetic that would make Wes Anderson proud, and takes a monochromatic tour of some favorite NYC eye candy, including Tom’s Restaurant, the Astor Place Cube, and the Roosevelt Tram, along with requisite shots one typically associates with the Big Apple.
Without further ado…
