It’s ‘Clerks’ Meets Katz’s with David Manheim’s ‘The Last Jewish Waiter’

Katz’s Deli is in good hands. Yesterday we read a heartening piece over at Vanishing NY about the current third-generation owner of the venerable Kosher-style deli. His name is Jake Dell, and he decided to forego a career in medicine for the family business. Because, as he told Jeremiah, he “couldn’t imagine it becoming a condo, or having someone else running it.”
So if Jake is the pastrami, as it were, then David Manheim is the pickles and coleslaw. The foul-mouthed Katz’s waiter decided to start a funny little side project called “The Last Jewish Waiter,” in which we gain a glimpse of the day-to-day. The first episode premiered last week – “Welcome to My Hell” – and more are reportedly in the pipeline.
It’s like Clerks meets Katz’s. Winning combination platter.
