Olek Teams Up with Rickshaw Spidey in Washington Square Park

Friday afternoon found us roaming the recently remodeled Washington Square Park. It had been a long absence for us, but was the perfect day for a reunion. While there, we also caught a glimpse of Olek’s new publicity stunt. It was essentially a creative mashup of downtown notables.
The Polish-born artist, who found success in recent years crocheting random objects for the benefit of the street, decorated a rickshaw in the token camo. She then tasked Rickshaw Spidey from late-night East Village fame to do his thing.
Despite competition from myriad distractions, fresh NYU graduates, locals, and tourists pointed in awe. The event was filmed by Olek and her entourage and should be uploaded shortly. We’ll keep you posted.
