[Photo: Dave Gustav]Coming up on the one-year anniversary of the infamous Cro-Mags Webster Hall show (they didn’t play), the band is suing founding ex-bassist Harley Flanagan.
On July 6, we attended the concert, which was a hardcore night as part of the inaugural outing of the CBGB Festival. As we first reported, the founding bassist allegedly stabbed and bit Michael Couls and William Berardo in the dressing room (VIP area) before showtime. He was subsequently tackled by a gaggle of security guards mere feet from our perch, and later slapped with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Those charges were eventually dropped due to insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.
The New York Post now reports that Couls and Berardo are suing Flanagan in civil court for the unprovoked assault, and also Webster Hall for not providing adequate security. Damages sought are unspecified.
