Come hell or high water, Erik den Breejen was gonna finish his masterpiece on the Rag & Bone wall. Neither stopped him. It took a few days – rainy ones, at that – but David Bowie is looking rather sharp in lyrical mosaic form. This mural is certainly one of the best to grace the Elizabeth Street facade of the boutique.
As previously reported, the Brooklyn-based artist is the latest to participate in the Houston/PROJECT at 73 East Houston. His specialty is creating musician mosaics using song lyrics from their repertoire. In this case, both “Heroes” and “Fashion” are spelled out twice using negative-space lettering in red, blue, and pink paint.
