Rumor: Rob Shamlian to Swoop in After Motor City Departs

Word on the street this morning is that controversial club owner Rob Shamlian is reportedly tightening his grip on Hell Square. Already with four bars to his name in the vicinity (Fat Baby, Spitzer’s, Los Feliz, Tiny Fork), Shamlian is now rumored to be opening yet another.
A Boogie birdie tells us that once Motor City Bar departs 127 Ludlow Street at the end of the week, Shamlian is expected to helm an as-yet-unknown replacement concept. If proven true, this turn of events would certainly be a bitter pill to swallow for the hordes of die-hard Motor patrons over the years.
Shamlian earned some local notoriety two years ago when he said in an interview that he was “done with the Lower East Side” and needed to “get the hell out of there.”
