The City Marshal paid a visit to Landbrot Bakery & Bar yesterday afternoon to serve papers. Looks like the artisanal new kid on the block was evicted from 185 Orchard Street, the base of the Thompson LES. Court-ordered documents are now taped to the front door of the establishment. Phone number has also been temporarily disconnected.

Landbrot originally planned to open here in the summer of 2011, yet those dreams were not realized until the following summer. Here we are now a year later and the place is kaput. Nothing lasts anymore on the Lower East Side; chain stores and landlords couldn’t be happier.

Meanwhile, peering at Landbrot’s Facebook page, all would appear gravy. In a post just the other day, the company announced plans to franchise a third Manhattan location and two others in Phoenix.
