No Tacos for 49 Clinton: Former Kupersmith Space Now for Rent

Kupersmith kicked the bucket a few months ago, while a replacement waited in the wings. Or so we thought.
The gastropub style (“butcher meets beer”) restaurant at 49 Clinton Street had been the result of a business pivot from predecessor Clerkenwell, but only lasted two years on the block. Community Board 3 approved the sale of assets to a Mexican joint called the Taco Project back in May (with stipulations, natch). And then we waited … in vain.
Fast forward to present day and that replacement plan seems to be all but donezo. Leasing signs now reside on the black pinstriped awning.
