High-end baked goods didn’t work out for 268 Elizabeth Street, but trendy menswear probably will. Especially given the rich pedigree.
Last October, the Billy’s Bakery outpost at 268 Elizabeth foundered after two years on the block. Ten months of dormancy later, the 35-year-old son of J. Crew CEO Mickey Drexler just planted a flag here. Alex Drexler acquired the store as HQ for his new Alex Mill menswear line, and officially opened for business on Monday.
Complex dubbed the Alex Mill product as the “preppy-meets-classic sportswear,” and it’s most definitely priced to match.
The gear is also available on the floors of Barney’s and Unionmade.
