Forthcoming Sant Ambroeus on Lafayette Teases with New Plywood Signage

Iacopo Falai’s eponymous Caffe at 265 Lafayette Street closed for renovations last November, never to reopen. Same old story. While the enormous storefront footprint descended to decrepitude, gears turned behind the scenes to bring in another restaurant concept. One that already boasts a deep roster of city establishments.
Italian joint Sant Ambroeus obtained a rare OP license approval from CB2 seven months ago to operate here on Lafayette. Even though the paperwork is still sitting with the SLA, onsite remodeling has already begun. The plywood shed is now a sidewalk fixture, currently sheathed in a pink vinyl hype banner. According to the tiny white print, the forthcoming restaurant, fourth in the brand arsenal, will debut “this fall” with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails.
Principals at this locale of Sant Ambroeus are Gherardo Guarducci and Jacopo Giustiniani.
