Rise & Grind Tattoo Shop Opens at 9 Clinton Street

The top right storefront at 9 Clinton Street was seemingly a bastard child that hasn’t received much love in recent months. With CULTUREfix continuing to kill it next door and Prohibition Bakery recently settled, the former home of Kaia House sat pretty vacant. The organic beauty supply shop foundered last year, but a replacement is now here. Think of it as a different kind of skin care.
That’s right, a new tattoo parlor called Rise & Grind just opened at 9 Clinton. The newcomer joins Bang Bang as the second ink spot between Stanton and East Houston, and third within a two-block radius. It also further diversifies the retail in this stretch of restaurant row quite a bit.
On a related note, the Yelp page for Kaia House claims that the shutter is temporary and that the store will reopen in April 2014. Seems a bit arbitrary and probably inaccurate.
“Rise and grind” is a slang replacement for the phrase “rise and shine,” meaning wake up and get going.
