Knew I had to say goodbye
To all the old things held inside
If I let the moment fly
I knew they’d all be magnified
-Luscious Jackson, “Naked Eye”
Naked Eye Optical is closing its doors after twelve years in business. Store stripping and breakdown transpired yesterday at 192 Orchard Street, where little remains of the glasses outpost. And as is so often the case here on the Lower East Side, the token Misrahi Realty sign now darkens the entrance.
George Lee and Owen Long ran Naked Eye Optical, which always carried a well-curated selection of vintage frames from designers around the world.
