Peaches Does Herself/GoldVE Entertainment

Cocksure rocker Peaches has been perfecting her campy and outrageous electro-rock stylings for more than a decade now. We’re still headbangin’ along and struttin’ our stuff to slick cuts like “Kick It,” “Boys Wanna Be Her” and “Talk to Me.” And coming up for the one and only Peaches is her first feature film, Peaches Does Herself.

This semi-biographical musical concert film premieres October 18 at Quad Cinema (34 West 13th St.) Fans can also catch a very special post-screening show with Ms. Peaches at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St.) on October 19. Plus, she’ll be around for select Q&A sessions following each night’s showing. See deets below.

Featuring nearly a dozen of Peaches’ songs, Peaches Does Herself was penned, directed by and stars Peaches. Comedienne Sandy Kane… yes, THE Naked Cowgirl who we’ve all seen hanging out in Times Square, appears in the film, as does transgender performance artist Dani Daniels. It received major props at the 2013 Sundance London Film & Music Festival, 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, and the 2013 San Francisco International Film Festival.

Peaches Does Herself gave me a new way to express my views on gender, age, performance and entertainment in general,” Peaches explained in a statement. “It was an extraordinary opportunity to take my own songs and turn them into a narrative without using extraneous dialogue. It also allowed me to recreate and solidify the iconography that I have built up through my 10 years of work as Peaches.”

Blockchain Company Anchors Sunshine Cinema Replacement Tower

The glassy office building that replaced the beloved Sunshine Cinema has its first tenant. And an anchor, at that. The arrival of San Francisco-based Solana Labs comes mere weeks after the sidewalk bridge outside 141 East Houston came down (thereby freeing Yonah Schimmel from bondage). Solana Labs, a blockchain company, reportedly signed a lease for […]
