In July 2011, the one-story box-o’-bricks at 199 Mott Street met its maker. Curbed reported at the time that a new hotel by Michael Namer and the Alfa Development team was planned for the former home of T-Bone Supermarket. Plans have since changed. Hotel no more. The new kid on the block is to sport eight stories of pricey condo living instead.

Wraparound signage was installed on the sidewalk bridge this week promising the “newest addition to [ruin] old New York.” A teaser website for the new 199 Mott devlopment – part of Alfa’s so-called “Green Collection” – is also in play. The building will carry two- and three-bedroom apartments with pricing that starts at $2 million, plus a penthouse.

Street level, though, two years of sporadic construction is nearing completion. The structure has already reached its 85-foot summit, and masons are busy skinning the facade. It’ll look something like this once complete. Expect high end retail tenants for the ground level.

The glassy office building that replaced the beloved Sunshine Cinema has its first tenant. And an anchor, at that.
