Large Chinese Supermarket Opening at the Corner of Pike and East Broadway

Well, look what we have here. A grocery store is again returning to the southwest corner of Pike and East Broadway, four years after the Hong Kong Supermarket burned to the ground. The aptly named Chinese Supermarket of Manhattan is housed in the ground level and sub-basement of the new Marriott Fairfield Inn, and has been touting “coming soon” banners for nearly three months. The store canopies arrived last week, and employees were seen unpacking numerous deliveries.
The supermarket will open in the coming days.
One thing is for sure, the addition of a supermarket here at 109 East Broadway is especially good news for residents still reeling in the wake of the Pathmark closure last year.
